As Pune Municipal Corporation moves towards being more citizen friendly for better governance, the “PMC Department Spotlight” series is an attempt to introduce its departments to them.

In our previous post in this series, we covered Property Tax department which you can read to know more about it.

In this post, we look at one of the most important departments of PMC, Solid Waste Management.

Solid Waste Management (SWM) department is one of the bigger departments at PMC. PMC has taken some landmark decisions regarding SWM. These include Biomethanation-cum-power generation plants. 15 new bio-gas plants of 5TPD are in process of being setup across Pune.

The department is being headed by Mr. Suresh N Jagtap who is PMC veteran. Under his leadership and guidance the department has introduced best practices in solid waste management at PMC.
