Property Tax Department has played major role in financing Pune Municipal Corporation operations. Property Tax provides the major source of revenue necessary to support local public services.

Property Tax department is managed by Shri. Suhas Mapari, Deputy Commissioner working as Assessor and Collector of Taxes.Property tax is a levy issued by a government on a person’s real or personal property. The property is assessed to give it a value, and then that value is taxed. The amount of tax owed is determined by multiplying the fair market value of the property by the current tax rate.

Major department operations involve assessment and collection of taxes by department. It is citizen centric department which hugely depends on citizens’ support and participation. Department is continuously exploring new solutions to provide convenience to citizens.

Key Initiatives of Property Tax Department:
Department is using IT solution to manage its processes and service delivery to tax payers. Tax is collected through various mechanisms like Cash, Cheque/DD or online payment gateway. Department has implemented assessment module to provide option of online self-assessment to citizens.

SMS notification service is started by department to notify stakeholders on every transaction or completion of the process in the system.
